In nine years, Tunisia has been able to reclaim nearly 80,000 hectares of its agricultural land illegally occupied for years.
The director-general of agricultural buildings at the Ministry of State Domains and Land Affairs, Mohamed Hezami, announced that since the launch of the campaign to recover agricultural state lands in 2011 and until the end of September 2020, around 80 thousand hectares have been recovered.
The departments of the ministry were able to recover these lands through the various legal mechanisms available, including the evacuation decisions made by the governors or based on court decisions or revocation decisions, he explains.
Speaking to Mosaique FM, Hezami explained that most of the reclaimed land is in the northwest region and was occupied by development companies, agricultural technicians, or citizens.
Recall that in 2016, the management of agricultural buildings indicated that a total of 68,000 hectares of agricultural state land illegally occupied by citizens, in the various regions of the Republic must be recovered by the state.
