On Tuesday afternoon, 9 deputies of the Popular Front party deposited their resignation. The resignation list includes MP Haykal Belkacem, Abdelmoumen Bilanis, Shafiq Ayadi, Nizar Amami, Ziad Lakhdhar, Mongi Rahoui, Fathi Chamkhi, Ayman El-Alwi and Murad Hamaidi. MP Ziad Lakhdhar stated that the resignation is attributed to a number of reasons.
In a previous statement given to Tunis Afrique Presse, Zouhair Hamdi Secretary General of the Popular front stated that the ongoing division of opinion lies in the election of Hamma Hammami or Mongi Rahoui for the presidency. If the resignations are accepted the Popular Front will lose its parliamentary blocs.
