Tunisia-A girl savagely beaten by her mother: The Ministry of Women intervenes

A shocking video was shared on social networks today revealing a barely 2-year-old girl being violently assaulted by her mother. As such, the Ministry of Women, the Family and the Elderly declared that the child protection delegate coordinated with the sub-directorate of social protection under the direction of the judicial police to uncover the location of the incident and the identity of the mother in order to intervene.

The ministry added that the girl will be taken care of psychologically. Stating that the general child protection delegate has taken charge of the case, the ministry emphasised that the regional delegate is committed to making decisions to guarantee the protection of the attacked girl.

As this video was recorded in the street and in broad daylight, this horrifying and terrifying scene makes us question what happened to this little girl when the doors were closed. Confronted with the flood in acts of violence against children, the handling of this case must be exemplary in order to put an end to this type of practice. Consequently, a call for help is required from the components of civil society, the Ministry of Women, the representatives of child protection to play their role correctly either through awareness campaigns or the treatment of cases of physical and moral  aggression against children.

As for the judicial authority, it must “strike with an iron fist”! Nowadays, the idea of having a medical certificate attesting to good mental health before having children appears more and more important and even essential!
