Tunisia-Abdellatif Mekki: The opening of the borders was decided without pressure

Invited on Nessma TV previously,Nissaf Ben Alya said that the decision to cancel the obligation of negative PCR tests for tourists was the result of pressure from the tourism sector, despite the disagreement of the scientific commission against the coronavirus.

Reacting to this, former health minister Abdeltif Mekki stated there was no pressure in making this decision.

“The opening of the borders was an inevitable decision,” he said yesterday on Attassia tv, assuring that the error lies in the poor application of health protocols.

Mekki stressed that there was no pressure. According to him, opening the borders is not a decision to be evaluated, but that it is necessary to “evaluate the design of the protocols and their application to determine the responsibilities”.
