Tunisia- Abdellatif Mekki: We cannot protect people from COVID-19 and let them starve to death

Minister of Health  Abdellatif Mekki dismissed circulating news regarding his rejection and the Scientific Committee of the decision to reopen the borders, stating, “This is not correct, we must take into account balance from all dimensions”, he stressed that they cannot protect people from COVID-19 and let them starve to death or even waste of interest. Mekki added that the difficulties rest in attaining a balanced protocol that can be implemented easily.

With respect to narrowing the decision to self-quarantine on Tunisian citizens, he replied that the same scientific principles have been adopted with tourists. Preventative measures issued for Tourists guarantee the same workability of self-quarantine including moving within in a framed manner , he added.
