Tunisia-Abdellatif Mekki:Water is behind spread of Typhoid fever and Hepatitis

The problem of water in both Kebili and Gabes contributed to the spread of typhoid and hepatitis, said  health minister Abdellatif Mekki.
Speaking at a press conference,he pointed out that at the real remedy for the outbreak of these epidemics is to treat water provisions, whether drinking water or wastewater.

Medical Teams in both Gabes and Kebili detected the spread of the epidemic before its outbreak, he said as he pointed out that an extensive plan was put in place to address and treat the cases that were reported.

Moreover, he stressed that the situation is under control and  that the condition of recorded cases is mostly stable.

He explained that the Water shortage pushed residents to use uncontrolled water. An agreement was put in place with the ministries of agriculture and environment to locate a solution to the water problem there.
