Tunisia-Abdullah Obaidi: “steadfastness of Palestinian resistance is what forced all parties to reconsider their calculations” [Video]

The resilience of the Palestinian resistance has prompted a reevaluation among different parties, as initially, the Hamas movement was notably excluded from the initial Arab foreign ministers’ meetings with anticipation that the conflict would settle quickly. This insight was shared today, Friday, February 9, 2024, by former diplomat Abdullah Obaidi in a statement to Tunisie Numérique.

He noted that the Arab League’s stance appeared to imply a desire for Israel to swiftly deal with Hamas before any substantial public actions could be taken, recollecting past instances where the Israeli military accomplished quick victories over Arab forces.

Nevertheless, the durability of the Palestinian resistance has extended the conflict beyond four months, leading nations that have normalized relations to rethink their strategies, particularly in the face of widespread public protests.

Moreover, he noted that there has been considerable opposition from Jewish communities in the West, including those in America and Israel, against the massacres perpetrated against the Palestinian people. This global outcry has impacted political stances, as evidenced by the American president’s dropping popularity due to his administration’s position on the Gaza conflict, amidst preparations for a potential re-election campaign.
