President of the Free Destourian Party (PDL) Abir Moussi has just started an open sit-in within the house of people representatives after having been the victim of verbal and physical violence by deputy Seifeddine Makhlouf.
She firmly condemned what she called harassment and persecution on the part of her political opponents, the Ennahdha Islamists and their allies.
Moussi told that she was verbally assaulted an Ennahdha MP who affirmed that she did not have the right to be seated in the seat which was booked for him as his position as president of the energy commission. The Nahdhaouie deputy criticized her for presenting the portrait of Bourguiba and a sign calling to withdraw confidence from the house speaker.
Then she assured, that after a break inquired by 9alb Tounes, during which the presidents of the blocks met with Ghannouchi.the chairman of the meeting demanded her to leave the seat, as long as she was carrying the portrait of Bourguiba. She declined to comply with his orders. He then cut her off and adjourned the session citing a resolution by the presidents of the blocs who rejected to allow her to do so. While there has never been any question of the authority of this council over deputies and their convictions.
In addition, she affirms that during the break, MP Seifeddine Makhlouf insulted her.Abir Moussi denounced this behaviour which stopped her from doing her job and deprived her the right to present her political convictions. She further deplored that a member from Ennahdha had the power to stop the session because of Bourguiba portrait. Hence she deiced to begin an open set in, to put an ending, once and for all, to this aggressiveness towards her.
