Tunisia – Abrougui: the 279 local councils will be installed despite participation rates in ballot

The member of the Independent High Authority for Elections (ISIE), Najla Abrougui, stated in a media statement on December 24, 2023, that the participation rate in polling stations for the local elections might grow during the last hours of the day. She confirmed that the 279 local councils would be set up, even if participation rates were low. The president of the ISIE, Farouk Bouasker, reported that, as of 3 p.m., the number of voters had reached 697,755 people or 7.68% of the 9,080,987 registered voters.
