Tunisia: AFD approves projects worth two hundred million euros for 2024

The Ambassador of France to Tunisia Anne Guéguen revealed Thursday, February 1, 2024 figures for the year 2023 of Tunisian-French cooperation. She disclosed the major cooperation projects scheduled for 2024.

Anne Guéguen recollected that 15,000 individuals from civil society have been supported over the last two years, through projects of 25 associations. “More than three million euros will be dedicated in 2024 to cooperation and cultural action,” announced the French Ambassador to Tunisia at the same time.

Anne Guéguen welcomes the action of the French Development Agency (AFD) which recently approved, via its internal bodies, projects worth a cumulative amount of nearly two hundred million euros, the signature of which is intended for the next few months.

These projects are dedicated to assisting Tunisian SMEs in sustaining and creating jobs, to the sanitation of working-class neighborhoods for the benefit of 215,000 inhabitants, to strengthening the means of intervention of Civil Protection and other projects that aim to support the education system.

“The reality of bilateral cooperation is there. This aid is substantial and benefits a population spread throughout the territory”, underlines Anne Guéguen who recalled the commitment of French diplomacy in favour of free and pluralistic information and freedom of the press, one of the main acquired by the revolution.

“Tunisia is a pioneer in press freedom in the Arab world. We are all mobilized to guarantee that it remains so,” adds Anne Guéguen.
