The Tunisian General Labor Union (UGTT) declared on Tuesday, November 9, 2021, a general strike in the public and private sectors in Agareb in the governorate of Sfax.
The strike, which will be observed on Wednesday, November 10, comes after conflicts that exploded on Monday between the residents of the region and the police after the reopening of the landfill centre.
In addition to the call to strike, the UGTT commanded the lifting of the security blockade inflicted on Agareb and the activation of the deal on the final closure of the landfill centre. The union organization declared announced a day of mourning in memory of the late Abderrazek Lachhab who passed away yesterday.
The UGTT called for an inquiry to uncover the circumstances of the incident.
