Tunisia – Aïn Jalloula: Protesters block road between Kairouan and Siliana

Residents of Ain Jalloula, in the Hafouz district of Kairouan, blocked the road linking the Kairouan and Siliana governorates in the Tfifila area on Tuesday, March 18, 2025.

The demonstration followed the death of a motorcyclist who was hit by a National Guard vehicle on Monday afternoon. The victim succumbed to injuries later that evening at the Aghalba health unit.

In response, the General Administration of the National Guard announced a judicial inquiry by the traffic accident brigade, under the supervision of the public prosecutor. Legal action has been taken against the head of the Ain Jalloula National Guard post and his companion. Additionally, an administrative inquiry has been launched to determine the circumstances of the accident and assign responsibility.
