Tunisia – Al Amra: Sub-Saharan Migrants Disrupt Start of School Year?

Social network users have circulated, today, Monday, September 16, a “news” according to which illegal Sub-Saharan Migrants have hindered the beginning of the school year by storming a school in the locality of ‘Al Jouaouda of the Al-Amra delegation of the governorate of Sfax and utilising the sanitary blocks of the establishment.

The official page of the General Directorate of the National Guard has issued a clarification of what was circulating on this issue, in which it declared that the “news” was unfounded, adding that “national guard units were present in the region Following the security plan to secure all educational establishments, including the school mentioned, to guarantee the safety of students and staff.

The General Directorate of the National Guard confirmed in its press release that “the security presence was in place and coordinated to ensure the normal course of the start of the school year, and that there was no threat or obstruction of the course of the courses”.
