Tunisia – Al Joumhouri calls for return to parliamentary system and speed up choice of head of government

Al Joumhouri political bureau issued a press release on Sunday expressing its worry about the prolongation of the state of emergency and what accompanied it from paralysis of the institutions of the ‘State. The party called for the presentation of a roadmap to end the crisis.

The party assures, further, its categorical rejection of any modification of the constitution, without being, first, passed by a clear national dialogue, in accordance with the provisions of the constitution, with a return to the choices of the people.

The party renews its refusal of military trials for civilian citizens and calls for relinquishing the policy of collective criminalization of corporations by banning them from travelling, or by placing them under house arrest. It also calls on the president to end the state of emergency and to return to a democratic system based on the separation of powers, and carry out consultations with representatives of political parties and civil society for the choice of prime minister, as soon as possible.

The party calls, ultimately, on the components of the political scene to unite to take the initiative to return to democratic, social and national choices.
