Tunisia-Al-Obaidi: “Israeli attack on Rafah resulted from state of confusion and entity’s loss of war on two fronts” [Video]

Speaking to Tunisie Numérique, former diplomat Abdullah al-Obeidi stated that the attack launched by the Zionist entity today on Rafah should not be interpreted as Israel being rogue and not paying attention to the decision of the International Court of Justice. On the opposite, this attack is the consequence of a state of confusion.

Al-Obaidi believed that Israel is known for its constant desire to inflict a “fait accompli,” meaning that it aims in any way to accomplish goals on the ground. This is also due to its loss of the battle on two fronts: on the field, as accepting a ceasefire is perceived as a win for Hamas and the Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza. Further, Israel’s acceptance of the release of prisoners held by Hamas would likely result in a loss of public opinion within the country, leading to the accountability of leaders and presidents.

Al-Obaidi noted that Israel has likewise not overcome its intelligence failure in the October 7 operation, which was the reason for the emergence of opposition within Israel and the demand for the dismissal of several officials within Netanyahu’s administration.

As for the possibility of a reduction in Iranian support for Palestine following the recent plane accident that caused the death of a president and his accompanying delegation, Al-Obaidi clarified that this support is support for establishments and not individuals, and therefore it can’t be decline, because Iran considers itself concerned with this war, In addition, the United States of America is in the process of examining its options in this war, and it may change its alliances in the region.
