Tunisia-Ali Larayedh: Tunisia is going backwards

The vice president in charge of political affairs of the Ennahdha Movement Ali Larayedh declared on the sidelines of a press conference held today that Tunisia is going backwards. Condemning the concentration of power in the hands of the President of the Republic Kais Saied, Larayedh highlighted the degeneration of the general situation in the country in all aspects.

“The situation will worsen considerably in the following period. Tunisia has now become an isolated country because of the new measures, ”he said, criticizing hate and broadcast speech by Kais Saied. Larayedh pointed out that the purchasing power will worsen, signalling that indicators of poverty and unemployment will rise. T

The leader of Ennahdha called for upholding the principle of separation of powers to subdue the current crisis, reiterating his call to respect the independence of the judiciary. As for the general situation in the country, Larayedh explained that Ennahdha has spoken with diverse parties including Al Irada, the People’s Party, Al Jomhouri and the Congress for the Republic (CPR) and that joint statements will be issued shortly.
