Constitutional law professor Amine Mahfoudh announced today that the President of the Republic, Kais Saied, can reject the assignment of ministers recommended by prime minister Hichem Mechichi as part of the cabinet reshuffle by not consenting them to take the oath, even if the government obtains the confidence of the parliament.
He added that the President of the Republic is the sole one who can make the ultimate decision in the absence of the Constitutional Court.
He also said that no minister can start to exercise his functions without having first taken an oath before the President of the Republic.
