Tunisia-Angela Merkel invites President Kais Saied to visit Germany

President Kais Saied received on Monday a phone call from German Chancellor Angela Merkel. The two counterparts tackled the bilateral relations that bind the two countries in various field and the support provided by Germany to Tunisia in recent years, Moreover, both parties manifested common determination to foster and boost relationships of friendship and cooperation.
Merkel took the opportunity to felicitate the head of state on winning the presidential election, extending her best wishes for the new year. Merkel has again extended an invitation to the President of the Republic to make an official visit to Germany.

During the call, the two head of states reviewed the latest regional and international developments, particularly the Libyan file and the forthcoming Berlin conference. Stressing its upholding to international legitimacy, Saied and Merkel emphasised the necessity to attain a peaceful resolution to the Libyan crisis, a one that involves all parties including Tunisia.
They further addressed the Peace Initiative with the Supreme Council of the Libyan Tribes and Cities which discussed approaches to resolving the Libyan crises and drafting of the constitution for the next stage in Libya. Finally, Saied and Merkel mutually agreed to Continue consultation on the Libyan file.
