Tunisia-Arraya Al Watania calls for no longer resorting to exceptional jurisdictions

Arraya Al Watania expressed that it followed with concern the decision of the President of the Republic linking to the dissolution of the Superior Council of the Judiciary (CSM). It stressed the necessity to maintain the independence of the judiciary.

Arraya indicated that the dissolution of the CSM by verbal order without moving to the preparation of an alternative text including a clear vision in order to manage this body further highlights the menace that can present Decree 117 through which the President of the Republic seized all the power.

The party believes that the dissolution of the CSM or its conversion into a judicial oversight body will not solve the problem as long as no modifications are made to the legal texts regulating civil and criminal procedures. Arraya Watania called for no longer having to resort to the courts of exception, in particular the courts of transitional justice which, according to him, represent a violation of rights and freedoms and a violation of the principle of justice.
