Tunisia: Arrest of Ahmed Souab

On Monday, April 21, 2025, former magistrate and lawyer Ahmed Souab was arrested by police officers.

The information was confirmed in a press conference by Samir Dilou, a member of the defence collective in this case, at the headquarters of the National Bar Association. According to him, a search was carried out early in the morning at Ahmed Souab’s residence.

Shortly after, Me Bassem Trifi, president of the Tunisian League for Human Rights (LTDH), shared on his Facebook page that the prosecutor of the anti-terrorism judicial pole ordered the arrest of Ahmed Souab for a duration of 48 hours. He will be questioned as part of the ongoing investigations.
