Tunisia – Arrest of dangerous offender subject to 14 wanted notices

Agents from the Halfaouine security station, acting on information indicating the presence of a suspect implicated in drug trafficking in the region and subject to several arrest warrants, set up an ambush to apprehend him. Upon arrest, he was discovered in possession of a sharp weapon and a quantity of drugs (Zatla). Further inquiry revealed that he was the subject of 14 arrest warrants related to “violence and theft.”

Upon moving to his residence, coordinated with the Public Prosecutor’s Office, a search yielded the following items:

  • 2 large sharp weapons.
  • 15 pieces of Zatla prepared for sale.
  • An electronic scale.
  • A tablet.
  • A watch.
  • A sum of 200 dinars and a cell phone.

The public prosecutor authorized his arrest and required legal measures will be taken against him. The search is ongoing.
