Tunisia – Arrest of owner of Quranic school for indecent assault on 5-year-old girl

The prosecution at the Manouba court of first instance authorized the arrest, for 48 hours, of a man in his fifties, owner of an unruly Koranic school, for indecent assault on a 5-year-old girl, while waiting for the rest of the decisions on criminal sanctions to be taken, in coordination with the family court judge and collaboration with the children’s representative.

The spokesperson said that the detention of this person is the result of an inquiry carried out by the Central Brigade to fight violent crimes against women and children in Ben Arous, after information from the child protection representative (to whom the child was entrusted), the mother who voiced her doubts about the fact that her daughter had been exposed to aggression).

The person concerned initially denied the facts, then confessed to having attacked her twice.

The prosecution of the Manouba court of first instance opened two instructions against the owner of the Koranic school. It authorized the continuation of the required investigations to ensure that there were no other attacks.
