The General Directorate of the National Guard revealed, in a statement released today, Friday, that units of the Ettadhamen district of the National Guard apprehended 11 individuals of sub-Saharan African nationalities after they intentionally illegally crossed the land border and resided in Tunisia in breach of legal procedures.
A joint patrol of intelligence units from the National Guard districts in Jebniana and Sfax, with the participation of units affiliated with the Directorate of Information and Research of the National Guard in Aouina, made it possible to find a network specializing in helping migrants, nationals of Saharan Africa, to cross land borders clandestinely, to transport them and to accommodate them, to help them embark towards European coasts.
The DG of the National Guard explained that two people were apprehended and that a sum of money in Tunisian dinars and foreign currencies was seized from them, remarking that the public prosecutor authorized the necessary legal measures to be taken.
