Very early this morning, hundreds of Algerian passengers and cars arrived at Melloula border post in Tabarka (governorate of Jendouba).
The return to activity at this crossing point comes following the decision declared on July 5 by the Algerian and Tunisian presidents to reopen the borders after two years of closure due to the spread of the coronavirus.
In a statement to TAP, regional tourism commissioner Aissa Marouani stated that nearly 590 cars bearing Algerian license plates entered Tunisia on Friday via this post while 250 Tunisian vehicles left the national territory via this crossing point in the direction of Algeria.
