The Tunisian Association for Scientific Research, Innovation and Intellectual Property (ATRSIPI)have provided the Ministries of Health and the Interior intelligent drones able of measuring body temperature at a distance of approximately 1.5 km that would be utilised to screen subjects carrying the coronavirus, said the president of the Association, Amine Ghariani in a statement to the TAP agency.
Ghariani affirmed that the concept of the intelligent drone belongs to Mohamed Anouar Maalej, a young member of the association, who had received a patent from the National Institute of Standardisation and Industrial Property (INNORPI), adding the project was funded by the association’s internal funds, in addition to donations from some business operators.
“The UAV has undergone diverse alterations, making it capable of measuring body temperature remotely and transferring the data to central services for additional screening of the health status of the subject concerned, in prevention against coronavirus,” he revealed.
Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Salim Choura, on April 18, 2020, promised during a visit to the National School of Engineers in Sfax where this invention was presented, to finance this project in order to produce more prototypes, he added.
Ghariani pointed out that this project, which began in 2018, won second place at the Paris Exhibition of Young Innovators and Inventors.
