The headquarters of the court of first instance of Tunis was targeted by flames , on the night of Tuesday 17 to Wednesday 18 November 2020. The attempted fire failed but the prosecutor of the court of first instance of Tunis commanded the opening an investigation to discover the circumstances of this act.
According to legal sources, the case was assigned to the Judicial Pole for the fight against terrorism.
Speaking on Attessia TV, the president of the National Union of Judicial Officers and Executives, Hattab Ben Othman, maintained that the surveillance cameras installed at this tribunal are not operating.
“Since a month we have noticed that these cameras no longer work, and the agents responsible for securing the court have informed the Ministry of Justice, which has not reacted,” he explained.
The Judicial Pole had to retrieve the elements of the surveillance cameras set up at the level of the buildings nearby.
Two tires were set on fire in front of the central courthouse door, and petrol spilt on the stairs leading to the main entrance was discovered.
The technical units of the police took the fingerprints knowing that the suspect (s) managed to bypass the main door of the court and that the attempt took place a few meters from the security centre of the court.
