Tunisia [Audio]-Carthage and Hammamet Fests postponed to 2021

Tunisia’s two most prestigious summer cultural fests – the International Festivals of Carthage and Hammamet will be postponed to 2021,  Communications Officer  Chaima Laabidi the culture ministry said in a statement.

The decision was taken following a meeting after a series of encounters with the scientific commission for observing the evolution of the epidemiological situation of the Coronavirus in Tunisia.

Laabidi added that this arrangement was executed since these festivals receive a great influx of people, in particular also since the official return of various cultural activities will take place in mid-July while proceeding to follow the evolution of the health situation in the country.

She confirmed that in the light of what has been announced, it has been chosen to delay this year’s editions of the Carthage and Hammamet Festivals to 2021, with the rest of the cultural activities and events organized by associations or operators of concerts and private and public spaces, especially in the context of the frail economic situation facing the country and the repercussions of the Coronavirus pandemic on the cultural sector which is considered one of the most affected sectors.

Our speaker emphasised the necessity to resume activities in the cultural sector with all parties assuming responsibilities and commitment to implement the preventive measures and the health protocols conditioned by the Ministry of Health.
