The House of People’s Representatives (HPR) denied at a plenary session held on Tuesday, the draft motion by the Al Karama coalition asking the French government to apologise to the Tunisian people for crimes committed during and after colonisation.
Commenting on the subject matter, Democratic Patriots’ Unified Party MP Mongi Rahoui that rejecting the motion indicates that the Tunisian parliament has refused the request for an apology from France on crimes committed during colonisation.
In a statement to Tunisie Numérique, the MP expressed wonder at the stance of some parties and the truth of their decision during the voting, weighing that such political parties have no resolution, but rather operate with external instructions.
He deemed that such choices reflect the absence of a sovereign decision from these parties.
