Tunisia-[ Audio] Moez Joudi: Government must provide 10 billion dinars to fill the 2020 budget deficit

Speaking to Tunisie Numérique, economic specialist Mr Moez Joudi affirmed that the current administration is expected, within the framework of the Complementary Finance Law of 2020, to accumulate 10 billion dinars to fulfil the hole and the deficit in the budget.

Our speaker considered this amount to be very staggering because the amount of debt drafted in the 2020 budget bill was 12 billion dinars, but 10 billion dinars were stored in a first stage, and the government today is asked to collect 10 billion dinars instead of two,  an increase of 8 billion dinars over what was listed, signifying that the size of the debt for the year 2020 has become 20 billion dinars.

The economist revealed that the government is expected from this date to the end of the current year to assemble this amount in light of the significant decrease in the ability to move and borrow at the level of the global financial market, and also the economic crisis due to the current circumstances.

In the same context, the same source commented on the possibility of borrowing From the global financial market, explaining that it is expensive and challenging because it will be at an interest rate of 8%.
