Tunisia-[Audio]Dissolution of CSM: Popular Current supports Kais Saied’s decision

Speaking on Tunisie Numérique, Popular Current spokesperson Mohsen Nabti explained that the dissolution of the Superior Council of the Judiciary (CSM) was a critical and necessary decision. According to him, the President of the Republic Kais Saied gave an opportunity to the CSM to allow it to participate in the national fight led by Tunisia to free its institutions.

“For almost 10 years, the CSM relinquished its role and followed the dictates of the lobbies and Islamists who were in power. On July 25, 2021, we thought that the institution in question will partake in the process whose purpose is the rescue of the country. However, the CSM has betrayed the Tunisians,” he said, remarking on Saied’s decision that it was his duty to take this step on the same date as the commemoration of the anniversary of the assassination of Chokri Belaid.

“If we had an independent and fair judiciary, we would not have attained this stage” adds our speaker. According to Nabti, the decree-law on the organization of the CSM must be issued. He added that socio-economic reforms could not take place in the absence of a fair judiciary.
