Tunisia: Bad weather: Civil Protection warns

The spokesperson for Civil Protection, Moez Triaa, revealed that the weather situation on Sunday afternoon, January 12, is marked by the appearance of thunderstorms with scattered rains. To ensure the safety of citizens and protect their property, Civil Protection recommends the following:

* Stay away from the edges of wadis and flood-prone areas: avoid approaching places likely to witness high water flows, particularly near wadis and hydraulic installations.

* Avoid risking crossing wadis: Avoid crossing wadis under any circumstances, as they can cause serious accidents.

* Move to higher and safer places: mainly for those living in low-lying areas or mobile housing units such as tents.

* Check storm drains: Make sure that storm drains around homes and shops are prepared to prevent water from accumulating or seeping inside.

* Secure loose objects: Secure objects that can be blown away by strong winds, such as billboards and signs, to prevent wounds.

* Avoid touching utility poles: Be careful not to approach utility poles during and after rain, to avoid the risk of electric shock.

* Avoid parking cars under trees: It is recommended to avoid parking cars under trees during periods of strong winds and thunderstorms, as winds can cause branches to fall or even completely uproot trees, which poses a great danger to transportation and causes serious property damage.

* Follow the weather: Stay informed about weather conditions through the media and follow the recommendations of the relevant authorities.

The spokesperson confirmed that in case of emergency, civil protection can be contacted at 198.
