Nearly total paralysis of economic activity hit on Wednesday in the governorate of Bea due to the regional strike held in answer to the call launched by the coordination of national organizations in Beja to demand the rights of the inhabitants to development and employment.
Administrations, municipal services, schools and department stores were shut down today. Likewise, shops, cafes and restaurants.
Additionally, on Wednesday public transport and the activities of companies located in the industrial zone “Bouteffaha” in Béja including the German factory “Kromberg Schubert” which employs 4000 workers were all suspended.
In addition, several thousand citizens gathered in front of the headquarters of the governorate of Beja to condemn the decay of the socio-economic situation in the governorate due to the lack of projects and the rise in unemployment.
Sit-ins were similarly organized at the main avenue “Habib Bourguiba” in Beja by professionals from various sectors including farmers who denounce the marginalization of agricultural activity in the region.
