A fire broke out this afternoon, Wednesday, August 14, 2024, in the Al-Abidiyya zone of the Beni Matir region within the Fernana delegation in the governorate of Jendouba. There are worries about the rapid spread of the fire due to strong, gusty winds, according to a civil protection source and eyewitnesses.
Witnesses report that the blaze is advancing towards the Othmaniyah region. There is also worry that it might endanger nearby residences because of the difficult terrain, inadequate maintenance of forest trails in the area, and the proximity of a large electrical generator.
A civil protection source noted that equipment to contain the fire is on-site and ready for use. The challenging topography will be managed through manual intervention. If the shower, which started around four o’clock this afternoon, continues, it is hoped that the fire will be brought under control.
