ISIE President Farouk Bouaskar confirmed that municipal elections are necessary and ‘there will be no escaping their organization.’
He clarified today, Sunday, in the capital, while supervising the organization of the lottery for the rotation of the composition of the regional council and the rotation of the presidencies of local and regional councils in Tunisia, that municipal councils exist and are also the local entities provided for in the July 2022 Constitution.
He underscored that organizing municipal elections is also a matter related to the enactment of a law regulating municipal councils and revising the legal framework governing them, which will soon be published to regulate the functioning of these councils more precisely and clearly.
