Tunisia-Breaking news: Mechichi takes new measures to curb spread of COVID-19

Prime minister Hichem Mechichi has taken new measures to curb the spread of COVID-19.

The measures include the following:

  • total lockdown and closure of governorates whose infection surpassed 400 / 100,000 inhabitants
  •  direct the military team on-site to regulate intra and intergovernmental admissions
  •  set up isolation centres/field hospitals for these governorates (contamination exceeded 400 / 100,000 inhabitants ) to isolate and test the positives
  •  organize extensive testing campaigns for suspects and isolate the positives
  •  organize mass vaccination campaigns
  •  strengthen screening capacity
  • requisition private structures to enhance the care capacity
  • mobilize staff seconded from the Ministry of Health (Sport, justice, interior, social) for vaccination campaigns, testing, care
