Four more cases of contamination with COVID-19 was registered on May 8, 2020, bringing the total number of infected people to 1030, of which 638 have completely recovered, the Ministry of Health declared. The number of fatalities increased to 45.
The ministry indicated that 39 tests were positive (4 new cases and 35 previously diagnosed with the virus) out of the 1453 tests carried out Friday. Of these tests, 112 were done as part of the follow-up of previously confirmed cases. 27,420 tests have been carried out in Tunisia, since the outbreak of the pandemic, the same source said.
Furthermore, Some 347 cases with COVID-19 are still active. The number of patients in intensive care is 24 and the number of hospitalised patients is 35.
The ministry-related tests are primarily carried out on persons assumed of having contracted the virus and those who have had contact with confirmed cases.
It also asks Tunisians to strictly respect the law and lockdown measures in all regions of the country in order to stem the spread of the virus.
