Tunisia-Chebbi reveals details of agreement between University of Basic Education and Ministry of Education [Video]

Speaking to Tunisie Numérique, Assistant Secretary General of the University of Basic Education, Tawfiq Chebbi reported that a working session took place between the university and the Ministry of Education, and it was agreed to lift the grievances imposed on the union members by the former Minister of Education and to recover the gains that were stolen.

Chebbi explained that during this session, it was decided to remove Circular 52 issued by the former minister, concerning the temporary assignment of school management, and at the start of the next academic year, school principals will return to their previous positions, indicating that the schools that were published and debated will be substituted. It will be republished in the next academic year as well, and the formerly approved standards that regulate this process will be adopted.

Our speaker noted that as for the salaries that were reserved in July 2023, the teachers will be given their financial dues along with the wages of May at the latest, but as for the principals who retired and did not receive the wage for July, it will be paid to them, and even the principals who retired and were not counted. The July grant will include their salary and their situation will be fixed, in addition to paying the wages of 3 colleagues who passed away.

As for the temporary assistants, the Assistant Secretary General of the University of Basic Education remarked that it was agreed to issue the demarcation decision no later than May 15, knowing that these decisions were issued for 8 governorates.

The speaker added that about reclassifying the subclassification from “A3” to “A2,” the commission will return to its work, and it has been agreed that those concerned will obtain a training session lasting 6 months between direct in-person training and remote training, and while awaiting the issuance of the order, the training process will start initially from May.

As for the representatives outside the agreement, the committee will return to working and researching ways and mechanisms for allocating them to completely break off precarious employment.
