Tunisia: Chinese company plans to invest 800 million dollars in mining sector

FIPA-Tunisia announced that a Chinese delegation from Asia-Potash International Investment (Guangzhou) Co., Ltd, led by Mr. Yu Baolei, Vice President of the Industrial Development Department, and Mr. Humeng Fei, Director of Investment in Mining Development, was welcomed on Thursday, April 3, 2025, by Mr. Jalel Tebib, General Director of FIPA-Tunisia.

Asia-Potash International Investment (Guangzhou) Co., Ltd is a publicly listed Chinese company specializing in potassium extraction, modern agriculture development, and is involved in the global phosphate industry.

“The Chinese officials presented the activities of Asia-Potash and confirmed their interest in investing in Tunisia, especially in the phosphate sector in the Kef Governorate and in the construction of a mining industrial complex. The forecast from the officials is an extraction of one million tons of phosphate in the first phase, with a medium-term goal of reaching 8 million tons, for a total investment of 800 million US dollars,” FIPA said.

Mr. Tebib congratulated the company representatives for choosing to invest in Tunisia with a win-win approach and highlighted the support of FIPA-Tunisia, as well as its traditional commitment to assisting foreign investors.
