Tunisia: Confirmation of holding of 38th edition of Tunis International Book Fair as initially scheduled

In an intervention on a private channel, Walid Hajjem, advisor to the President of the Tunisian Republic Kais Saied, put an ending to the rumours and confirmed the holding of the 38th edition of the Tunis International Book Fair. This significant cultural event will take place, as scheduled, from April 19 to 28, 2024 at the Kram Exhibition Center.

Planned from April 19 to 28, 2024, at the Kram Exhibition Center, the fair not only showcases Tunisia’s dedication to the arts and literature but also underscores the significance of intellectual exchange in fostering understanding and collaboration both within the country and internationally. It is an important venue for publishers, authors, and book enthusiasts from around the world, offering a unique opportunity for dialogue, discovery, and the celebration of literary achievements.

This event’s continuation, particularly during challenging times characterised by health crises and economic shifts, illustrates the resilience of the cultural sector and the vital role that literature and intellectual pursuits play in society. The Tunis International Book Fair stands as a beacon of knowledge and creativity, encouraging the exchange of ideas and backing the publishing industry, which is crucial for the development of a rich and diverse cultural landscape.

Likewise, the state’s explicit support for such events signals a broader commitment to sustaining the creative industries, essential for economic and social development. It reassures stakeholders—ranging from authors and publishers to the reading public—of the government’s recognition of culture’s intrinsic value and its potential to contribute to national and international discourse and understanding.

As preparations for the fair progress, anticipation builds for what vows to be an enriching and memorable experience for visitors. The Kram Exhibition Center’s doors will open to a space where literature’s power to unite and inspire is celebrated, presenting a testament to the enduring significance of books and reading in enriching minds and societies.
