President of the republic Kaîs Saied welcomed on Monday a group of law professors at Carthage presidential palace.
The meeting centred on statutory issues including the organic law amending the law dated December 3, 2015, on the Constitutional Court.
The meeting was attended by the Chairman of the commission that drafted the organic law establishing the Constitutional Court and professor of constitutional law at the Faculty of Sousse, Amine Mahfoudh, Head of the department of public law at the Faculty of Law and Political Science of Tunis Sghaier Zakraoui and Professor Brahim Refai.
Throughout the meeting, stress was placed on the fundamental role of the Constitutional Court in the founding of the rule of law, far from any political consideration. “This court needs to meet all the needed criteria, including neutrality and competence, to fitly exercise its role,” the presidency announced in the same statement.
