Tunisia – Coronavirus: Nissaf Ben Alaya predicts more than 7,200 dead by the end of the year

Nissaf Ben Alaya, director general of the National Observatory for Emerging Diseases and spokesperson for the Ministry of Health gave an overview of the epidemiological situation, this Tuesday, October 20, 2020 on the airwaves of Express fm, confirming that the coronavirus is still propagating at great speed.

She justifies her remarks by indicating that the last measures applied such as the curfew are still recent and it is therefore too early to establish a first assessment and analyze the curve of the spread of the coronavirus, specifying that for the time being, this curve has not been reversed.

She said the curfew is a necessity in order to slow the spread of the virus and health measures must be enforced because there are no signs of a decrease in the spread of the virus.

Nissaf Ben Alaya also commented on the rise in the propagation curve, indicating that it was accentuated by night gatherings, parties, weddings, hence the importance of the new measures imposed, hence the importance of the curfew.

In addition to these measures, Nissaf Ben Alaya recalled the importance of the rigorous application of 3M (mask, hand and meter) and health protocols to curb the spread of the virus to the extent that it has become urgent to reverse the curve of spread that continues to soar.

In this regard, she confirmed that at the current rate, Tunisia could record a very heavy toll in terms of human losses with 7,200 deaths by the end of the year, whereas the same forecasts were made two weeks ago. , out of 5,500 deaths by December 31, 2020.
