Tunisia-Coronavirus: Rafik Boujdaria warns of a deadly new wave

The chief of the emergency department of the Abderrahmane Mami hospital in Ariana, Rafik Boujdaria, announced that it is time to approve the vaccination pass for some professions. Boujdaria demanded an explanation for citizens that a person over 40 is more vulnerable than others to serious injury and death, particularly if they suffer from chronic illnesses.

In his post on Facebook, he spoke of the necessity to suspend any framework rejecting vaccination, especially since the issue goes beyond individual freedom and is connected to public health.

For him, Tunisia has two choices:

  • Vaccinate 60% of Tunisians and achieve collective immunity, which is the safest option
  • Maintain a rate of no more than 30% of vaccinated, and consequently prepare for a new wave in October which will claim tens of thousands of victims.
