Young volunteer doctors began responding to calls to the toll-free number 80105050 that was provided by the ministry of health, it went into operation on Monday for people suffering from anxiety or psychological disorders during the period of general lockdown in the nation.
In a statement to the TAP agency, president of the Psychological Assistance Unit for Disaster Victims under the Ministry of Health Anissa Bouasker said that the first received calls revealed a number of citizens experiencing insomnia, lack of appetite, anxiety and permanent stress and panic attacks.
She affirmed that 200 psychologists, psychiatrists and medical practitioners are assembled on a voluntary basis to give free psychological support.
Despite going into operation for a few hours, the number has seen a large influx of calls.
