Bechir Boujidi, member of the executive board of the Tunisian Union of Industry, Trade and Handicrafts (UTICA) said on Thursday, October 8 that hundreds of SMEs were forced to shut down during the first wave of the pandemic.
The blockage encountered by several industries as well as the shutdown of production has led to the loss of thousands of jobs. UTICA recorded the loss of 165,000 jobs during the first wave of the Coronavirus in Tunisia, he said.
Boujidi also lamented that the government did not implement the decisions on reorganizing debts and postponing bank instalments and payments, which he said could have helped businesses in this delicate period.
