An infant has tested positive for the new coronavirus EG.5 variant.
According to the director of the Institut Pasteur, Hechmi Louzir, “the genetic sequencing of 70 samples confirmed the infection of an infant with the EG. 5 variant of the coronavirus”, he indicated on Monday, September 4, 2023, on Mosaique FM waves.
He emphasised that “the baby was hospitalized at Charles Nicole Hospital and his state of health having improved significantly, he was able to leave the hospital”.
