Tunisia – CPG: Slight improvement in commercial phosphate production

The Société des Phosphates de Gafsa registered a slight improvement in commercial phosphate production during the first quarter of 2024 compared to the same period last year, amounting to approximately 4%.

Production for January, February and March of the current year was estimated at 789,812 tonnes, compared to 728,333 tonnes during the same period in 2023.

It should be remarked that the CPG had put into service a set of new heavy machinery in several localities to increase the level of production, which has fallen over the last two years due to the obsolescence of certain machinery, the annual production in 2022 has reached 3.2 million tonnes and 2.9 million tonnes in 2023.
