Tunisia – Creation of a commission to audit loans and donations received since 2011

The President of the Republic, Kaïs Saïed, welcomed this Tuesday Vice President of the World Bank Ferid Belhaj at Carthage palace.

During the meeting, the head of the state told Mr Belhaj that he has decided to form a commission that will secure the audit of all donations and credits received by Tunisia, since 2011, and that he fears that they have been embezzled.

Saied told his interlocutor that he learned from the mouth of a senior official that a donation worth 500 million DT was embezzled before even reaching Tunisia. Saïed confirmed that all this stolen money must go back to the Tunisian people, and that is why he began with the sanitation of justice because he declines to stand idly by those who rob Tunisians.
