Tunisia: Date of Eid al-Fitr according to astronomical calculations

The City of Sciences announced that, according to astronomical calculations, Sunday, March 30th will mark the first day of the month of Shawwal and, therefore, Eid al-Fitr.

However, it points out that Tunisia bases its observance on the observation of the lunar crescent, also depending on astronomical data.

Furthermore, the country ensures harmonization with other Muslim nations, especially neighbouring countries. Official confirmation of the date of Eid remains the prerogative of the competent public institutions.
