Tunisia – Deans of baccalaureate: It’s all in perseverance… It’s never too late to do well

These two stories underscore extraordinary determination and perseverance in seeking education later in life.

Mohamed Senoussi, from La Goulette, resumed his studies at sixty-six after a fifty-year hiatus due to health reasons. Despite the long break, he finished his baccalaureate in literature at sixty-seven. His motivation was pushed by a desire to transmit a powerful message to his daughters regarding the possibility of success at any age. Senoussi’s decision to switch from the Science stream to the literature Division demonstrates his commitment to pursuing his passion despite the challenges.

Nadia Mohamed, a 58-year-old nurse from Tataouine, also earned her baccalaureate after a 14-year journey. Initially aspiring for the experimental sciences division, she faced setbacks before succeeding in the literature division. Her determination derived from a personal goal to prove herself within her “scientific” family, where everyone had obtained scientific degrees. Mohamed’s perseverance and the support of her family, particularly her husband, were crucial in her journey towards achieving her educational goals.

Both people exemplify resilience and believe that age should not limit one’s pursuit of knowledge and personal growth. Their stories inspire others to overcome obstacles and pursue dreams, regardless of circumstances or setbacks.
