The Tunisian League for Human Rights (LTDH) condemned the excess of violence and the employment of tear gas against demonstrators in Aguereb who claim their legitimate right to a holy environment.
In this regard, it dismissed statements by the Interior Ministry that a citizen called Abderrazek Lachhab had died of a heart attack far from the scene of the clashes. The LTDH alleged that according to testimonies, the deceased died of suffocation while on his way to purchase milk for his infant daughter.
According to the statement, law enforcement tried to prevent the car transporting him from reaching the hospital; and even around the health facility, the shooting proceeded.
In fact, according to this version, the death took place in the vicinity of the local hospital. Eyewitnesses further asserted that the deceased did not suffer from any chronic illness, added the LTDH, indicating that the public prosecutor had opened an inquiry in this regard.
